Q: So, you found indevelopment on the web...and you’re no longer in Oz ?
No, I’ve left Oz, and...The miricale of the web: yes, I've been living in France since 1997...;I made a brief visit to Oz in 2000 to see my folks, I caught up with Mark Ferrie, but subsequently lost contact, until recently. I'm back in contact with Ash
Wednesday, who played with us on the Providence tour, and Andrew Piccouleau, the original bass player from the Cowboys...I've known these guys since the 70s...Do you know about the Lethal Weapons compilation ? I've known Ash that Long...
Q: where do you live ....what was the last cowboys thing ?
I live near Montpellier in the south of France....the last Cowboys album was 'Things To Come' in 96...maybe you know it, anyway, we had Spencer Jones and Penny Ikinger in that lineup...but my departure shouldn't be seen as "a departure"....I'd come back to record with the guys, or do shows, if the situation presented itself
Q: Before we get started, I need to know about the song “we love you” and the album...what’s the difference ?
The "We Love you ...LP does not have that song, as I explained....you'll find that song on the "Trouble From Providence" LP/CD....if you listen to the 'Providence CD', turn it off when "We Love You" ends....that's the end of the album....and yes, from the top of the mountain, as you say, the lyric you quoted is part of the song....for some reason Citadel wanted to add bonus tracks to the 'Providence' CD, but they didn't bother to say where the album ended on the cover.....but the album was first released on vyinl with no bonus tracks, and CDs were just coming in, hence the confusion...and at the moment I’m working on re-releasing the ‘we love you’ album, not the song.
Q: Why did you agree to this interview ?
And yes, I'll do an interview with you. I like your awarenes of the importance of history...if you look into the songs on 'Providence'....I think you'll see what I mean....I once met a European Political History teacher who played "Canned Goods" to his students as an introduction to studying the final solution under Nazi rule in Germany during WW2...some people say musicians shouldn't look at the big picture, people only want to know about their own stuff, well, my response to that is, I starved enough and did what I believed in...if I chose to look at the big picture, it's because that's what ultimately changes your day....n'est-ce pas ?
Talk to you soon
Good luck with your HAL 9000
