When I first moved out of home, the Bristol Paint chain was using a similar cutout of Shirley Straun (Shirl the Curl, RIP 2001) carrying a tin of paint. I thought this would be a killer object to have in the front door hallway.

I tried, even going to the head office and put on a cock and bull story about an ill girlfriend that was in love with Shirl and it would make her day. The person I talked to was very sympathetic but only gave me a smaller (perhaps 2'x3') sign. Not the same effect.

I wager that the sight of the former Skyhooks front man would have been just as scary as a 6' Frankenstein or Dracula.
